Good lord...

This is the first post of this blog that'll pretty much follow my experience in the design world. I didn't think I'd have much content at first since I'm just solidifying a freelance gig [that I actually got on my own] but this week has been nuts...actually, that phrase warrants a swear word for emphasis...

This week has been FUCKING nuts. I'll share.

-Last week, I landed a gig doing web design for a Gestalt Magazine. Most of their team is in L.A. and their mags are mainly distributed in Europe. Of course, it stokes me out hardcore.

-On Monday I had the pleasure of speaking to the Art Director of Gestalt, Gilbert. He's a fun kid and he loves Warcraft. I dunno what that means but he was engaging enough to keep up a convo for an hour and a half. Words must be magic because after looking at my work and talking about how clean yet messy, hands-on design is the hottness, Gilbert wanted me on his design team.

The mag is still fleshing out and helping to create the general look and feel would be awesomer than life itself. I'm aching for this to work out. ACHING.

-Yesterday, I randomly checked my voicemails after having lunch with Jen Lu [cause my phone never feels like telling me when I have one] and lo and behold...

Playboy liked the work they saw on my website and wants me to meet their Art Dept. Wha? So random. It was hard to get used to the idea of designing for a titty mag, but c'est la vie.

-Today...some random girl from some random placement company found my resume [Why is the SVA job board magic this week?] and wants to send me to some company that needs design work as well as administrative work done...and I have years of administrative work experience.

Being wanted for a job is flattering and all, but I sit in a cubicle now and won't leave it just to sit in another one. Yup.

*Drumroll*

Then the rain stopped, the clouds opened up, and Jesus himself descended from the Heavens...

Or I went to 26th to meet with the Art Director of Artful Dodger NY, he told me that he needed someone ASAP to work on production and then fill a full-time Graphic Design position within 20 minutes and I said, yeah I'll totally leave my job for this shit, he said awesome, I said I'll start on Monday and he said see you then.

Yeah.

And then reality set it and it's not happenning...this entry ended differently before.
Sigh...and so it goes.
